Mark where you want to place the grommets. Use the grommet cutter and a hammer(on a solid surface) to punch the hole in the material. Push the outside grommet thru the material (from the outside to the inside of the garment), Then on the inside of the garment, place the inside grommet over the one you just pushed thru. Press it in place with your fingers and then use the grommet setter and a hammer to close (set) the grommets. Practice on scrap material first.
